Eucalyptus Globulus has a fresh, penetrating scent. It contains a high percentage of the compound eucalyptol, a key ingredient in many antiseptic mouth rinses. Often used for the respiratory system, eucalyptus has been investigated for its effect on insects in a study called "Laboratory Evaluation of Eucaplytus-based Repellent against Four Biting Anthopods," published in Phytotherapy Research. Eucalyptus globules scores 24,157 on the antioxidant ORAC* scale. It is comforting during the cold season and wonderful in massages designed to soothe exercise-stressed muscles.**
How to use: Apply topically, diffuse, or use in a humidifier.
*A new laboratory test known as ORAC (Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity) was developed by USDA researchers at Tufts University to rate the antioxidant levels of fruits and vegetables. Essential oils have also been found through ORAC testing to have very powerful antioxidant properties.
